estive celebrations at home
Have you ever stood in your living room with a pooja thali in hand, watching your little brother argue about return gifts while your puppy tries to eat the flower petals?
That was our house on Raksha Bandhan 2026!
Aside from my birthday, Rakhi is hands-down my favorite day of the entire yearâbecause who doesn't love getting showered with tons of gifts, sweets, and non-stop attention? But this year was extra special because we had a brand-new brother to tie a Rakhi to: our little furball, Chiku!
đ Chikuâs Hilarious Spa Day & The "Family Heirloom" Bathtub
Before any pooja could start, Chiku had to get festive-ready:
- The Heirloom Tub: Chiku got his pre-Rakhi bath in the very same baby bathtub that was first mine, then passed on to Aadi, and has now officially been handed down to Chiku!
- Grooming Chaos: Drying him off was a full cardio workout. With his fluffy fur sticking out and his tiny head dodging the comb, he ran around like a little rascal before we finally got him dressed up looking like an absolute cutie.
𧔠Pikachu Rakhis, Sister Trolls & Gifts Galore
Once everyone was dressed, the living room turned into pure festive comedy:
- Special Rakhis: Aadi got his favorite character Rakhi, Priyanshi Didi sent beautiful Rakhis from afar (including a sweet protective Evil Eye bracelet for sisters), and Chiku got his very own adorable Pikachu Rakhi!
- The Classic Sibling Banter: Aadi tried to negotiate his way into getting extra chocolates, while I reminded him of the legendary childhood tale that "I picked you up from the dustbin because you looked cute!"
- Chikuâs First Rakhi Moment: Since sindoor isnât dog-friendly, we gently touched a tiny bit of soothing chandan on Chikuâs forehead. Tying the Rakhi on his little paw while trying to keep him from snacking on the sweets was the cutest struggle ever.
đ Unboxing Surprises: Crochet Flowers, Bags & Chocolates
The best part of Rakhi? The unboxing!
- Priyanshâs Gift: A box of delicious chocolates and an adorable handmade crochet flower showpiece for my desk.
- Chikuâs "Idea": A super chic mini bag and treats (totally planned by Mummy, but Chiku gets all the credit!).
- Aadiâs Present: A stylish sling bag with a cute belt waist-strap that I had been wanting for agesâplus a mega-pack of Netherlands chocolates that we ended up splitting anyway!
â€ïž Sibling Love Knows No Distance
Looking around at the wrappers, the Rakhis set aside for Chachu and Aaryu in our mandir, and our goofy little brothers laughing together reminded me of something timeless:
Brothers may test your patience, steal your chocolates, and argue over every little thing, but their love is the warmest comfort you will ever carry.
Whether two-legged or four-legged, brothers make life an endless celebration of chaos and love.
